RENCONTRE avec Pierre Bessard le Jeudi 16 mai 18:30 à l’occasion de l’exposition”Love, Ren Hang” à la MEP, réserve ta place limité à 80 personnes!
À l’occasion de l’exposition “Love, Ren Hang”, la MEP propose une rencontre avec Pierre Bessard et Raphaële Godin qui ont soutenu la création de Ren Hang et participé à la révélation de son œuvre.
Tous deux aborderont la genèse fulgurante de l’œuvre intimiste de Ren Hang, sa production prolifique et sulfureuse, sa diffusion, son impact et sa reconnaissance en Chine et à l’internationale, à travers leurs relations personnelles et leurs collaborations avec l’artiste.
Pierre Bessard, a été le premier éditeur occidental à publier le travail artistique de Ren Hang et a révélé notamment en Europe son talent avec le livre The brightest light runs too fast *.
Ce livre au succès fulgurant possède une couverture particulière : un effet thermique permet, lorsque l’on chauffe (par frottement) l’image de couverture, de faire apparaître l’image d’illustration dans son intégralité, révélant en particulier la nudité du modèle. Son deuxième livre dédié à ses poèmes érotiques n’a malheureusement jamais pu être distribué en Europe et leur dernier projet de livre jamais publié.
Dès sa première rencontre avec Ren Hang printemps 2011 à Pékin, Pierre Bessard a été fasciné par son travail sur la libération du corps de toutes ses entraves et a soutenu immédiatement la création du jeune artiste qui allait devenir son ami.

The photography book, which is nowadays the preferred medium of choice for many photographers, is at the heart of Photobooks Switzerland, an event initiated by the photographer Anastasia Mityukova. While the artist’s book has already been discussed more broadly, this is the first event of its kind devoted specifically to the photographic book in Switzerland. Photobooks Switzerland aims to bring the best of independent contemporary photographic publishing to Switzerland. It seeks to open up reflection and discussion about the status and importance of the photo book, as well as to convey new inputs and impressions about the possibility of the medium in the Swiss cultural scene.
