Hester Lisa Scheurwaterr’s persona is an exploration into the existing ideas on femininity. Her new book “All I Ever Wanted” published by Editions Bessard consists of various leaflets like the different rooms in a house, each reflecting its own atmosphere of Hester Scheurwaters inner world, her fears and desires. She is using the depiction of women in contemporary society to raise questions about individuality and conformity, being just another female object or very much in control over the male gaze.
And the limited edition of 500 copies: Public price 75€

Romania: stop the assault on Europe’s last pristine wilderness Dear friends of the rainforests, Romania’s Carpathian Mountains are home to some of Europe’s last primeval forests. Bears, wolves and lynx – animals that have long since disappeared elsewhere – still roam free there. But their days are numbered unless we act – an entrenched timber mafia is clear-cutting entire mountainsides. Holzindustrie Schweighofer, an Austrian corporation whose products include wood fuel pellets for heating systems, is a key actor in the destruction of Romania’s forests. According to Alexander von Bismarck of the Environmental Investigation Agency (EIA), the company “deliberately and consciously” buys – and indeed, pays bonuses for – illegally harvested timber. Tell the Romania’s Ministry for Environment, Waters and Forests to curb Schweighofer’s expansion plans and put an end to the illegal timber trade. TAKE ACTION >>

The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), or North Korea, has been called the Hermit Kingdom, as it is one of the most reclusive states in the world. North Korea’s citizens are not allowed to travel abroad, there is no Internet connection to the outside world, and the flow of information is almost completely controlled by the government. This exhibition will be divided into two main sections: one showing the government’s official version of North Korea, while the other offers the alternative view of the country. Imagery distributed through official channels, such as the country’s press agency KCNA, which is based in Japan, and those photographed by tourists on state-controlled tours will offer an official view. These official images will be juxtaposed with a non-controlled stream of images coming out of the country: photographs produced by international photojournalists from within the nation, and international artists using photography and video to directly address North Korea. North Korean Perspectives is organized by Europe-based independent curator Marc Prüst in collaboration with MoCP’s Executive Director Natasha Egan. the link: http://www.mocp.org/exhibitions/2015/07/north-korean-perspectives.php
North Korean Perspectives Curated by Marc Prüst on lensculture
North Korean Perspectives opens with Pierre Bessard’s black-and-white shots from “The Kim Personality Cult,” picturing a packed stadium at the May Day celebrations, as well as a look inside a North Korean factory. These images project pride and a strong emphasis on a focused work ethic…
