Born in Garibaldi (RS) 1980, Rochele Zandavalli is an artist, researcher, teacher and photographer. PhD student in History, Theory and Criticism in Visual Arts at PPGAV/UFRGS, Master in Visual Poetics and graduated from the Institute of Arts at UFRGS. Researcher hosted by the Institut de recherche sur le cinéma et l’audiovisuel (IRCAV) at the Sorbonne Nouvelle Paris III, with Capes scholarship. Her production involves coexistence between technologies, photography in its expanded approach, photochemistry, and experimental processes. She takes interest in the mnemonic power of images and in the history of our representations, working on anachronisms based on temporal crossings, memorials and projections. It was featured in festivals such as Encontros da Imagem, Portugal; Photographic Autumn, Spain; Valongo, Brazil; Tiradentes, Brazil. Her works are in collections such as Pierre Bessard, France, Joaquim Paiva, Brazil, and Vera Chaves Barcellos, Brazil.
Her Eyes Shine When They See Me Burning was published by Editions Bessard. Limited edition of 50 copies, where each copy is unique based on the artist’s manual interventions, with sewing on the cover and painting on the images in the photobook. There are 31 images chosen from different series, including photographs produced by the artist and found images. Printed in the risograph atelier in Paris, and can be shipped worldwide.

Rochele Zandavalli, née à Garibaldi (RS) 1980, Brésil, est artiste, chercheuse, enseignante et photographe. Chercheuse accueillie par l’IRCAV Institut de recherche sur le cinéma et l’audiovisuel à la Sorbonne Nouvelle Paris III. Doctorante en histoire, théorie et critique des arts visuels au PPGAV/UFRGS de l’Université fédérale du Rio Grande do Sul, Brasil, titulaire d’un master en poétique visuelle et diplômée de l’Institut des arts de l’UFRGS. Sa production implique la coexistence entre les technologies, la photographie dans son approche élargie, la photochimie et les processus expérimentaux. Elle s’intéresse au pouvoir mnémonique des images et à l’histoire de notre représentations dont elle élabore des anachronismes à partir des croisements temporels, mémoriaux et des projections. Elle a été présenté dans des festivals tels que Encontros da Imagem, Portugal; Automne photographique, Espagne; Valongo, Brésil; Tiradentes, Brésil. Ses œuvres font partie de collections telles que Pierre Bessard, France, Joaquim Paiva, Brésil et Vera Chaves Barcellos, Brésil.

Edition limitée à 50 exemplaires, où chaque exemplaire est unique d’après les interventions manuelles de l’artiste, avec couture sur la couverture et peinture sur les images du livre photo. Doutoranda em História, Teoria e Crítica em Artes Visuais pelo PPGAV/UFRGS, Mestra em Poéticas Visuais e graduada pelo Instituto de Artes da UFRGS. Pesquisadora hospedada pelo Institut de recherche sur le cinéma et l’audiovisuel (IRCAV) na Sorbonne Nouvelle Paris III. Doutorado sanduíche com bolsa Capes. Sua produção envolve coexistência entre tecnologias, fotografia em sua abordagem expandida, fotoquímica, e processos experimentais. Tem interesse na potência mnemônica das imagens e na história das nossas representações, trabalhando anacronismos a partir de cruzamentos temporais, memoriais e projeções. Foi destaque em festivais como Encontros da Imagem, Portugal; Outono Fotográfico, Espanha; Valongo, Brazil; Tiradentes, Brasil.
